As the Kids Activities Department Head, you will be responsible for managing the day to day organization, operation, promotion, administration and supervision of the Kids Activities Department. The two major components of this department are Kids Activities programming and Child Center operations.
Ensure performance by exceeding revenue goals, operational excellence and high quality service.
Responsibilities
- Manage operational, financial, and budgetary responsibility for the Kids Activity programming and Child Center area.
- Market, promote, and sell Kids Activities programs throughout the club and in the community to increase participation
- Plan program curriculum, prepares program schedules, and registers participants
- Articulate extensive knowledge of Life Time Fitness programs, products, services, policies, and procedures
- Exhibit outstanding customer service by developing positive relationships with members
Maintains the day-to-day operations of the pool area by providing a safe, clean and fun environment while exceeding expectations for excellent customer service. Responsible for the overall casting, direction, coordination and supervision of the Aquatics Department team members including Lifeguards, Swim Instructors and coaches. Provides leadership for the department in the fulfillment of the Life Time mission statement. The Department Head oversees all aquatics programming to ensure the teaching of new skills in a fun, enthusiastic environment where participants learn through a range of high quality programs that appeal to an expanded customer base. Responsible for the organization, communication, promotion, administration, and supervision of the department. He/she ensures the department meets financial goals while providing the highest quality product.
Responsibilities
Member Experience :
- Ensure Aquatic Team Members provide a safe and friendly environment for the Members
- Set the standard for the Aquatics Department by providing exceptional customer service and meeting the Members' needs and expectations
- Quickly and efficiently respond to member questions, comments, and concerns
- Provide a safe, clean, and organized aquatics area for members
Sales & Promotional:
- Promote Life Time swim programs to achieve financials goals and connect as many members as possible.
- Ensure Team Members understand and promote all Life Time aquatics programs
- Promote all Life Time programs, products, and services
Financial & Budgetary:
- Purchases and reconciles activity related to department supplies
- Manage the aquatics department within budgetary guidelines
- Make recommendations regarding the annual department budget to the General Manager
- Calculate revenue for aquatics programs; process refunds, money transactions, and credit cards.
- Monitor Profit and loss statements to analyze performance and create business plans.
- Formulate, monitor and reconcile the budget and financial reports.
Managerial & Supervisory:
- Manage all Aquatics Department Team Members
- Complete daily inspections using the cleaning checklists to ensure pool area cleanliness
- Assist Operations Department to balance pool chemicals to meet mandated levels/standards
- Responsible for submitting incident reports to the appropriate department
- Complete new hire paperwork, payroll, and scheduling in a timely manner
- Train team members through shadowing team members, orientation, direction and feedback
- Track all pay scale statistics required.
- Ensure team member evaluations are completed and documented.
- Assess individual performance, provide feedback, and employee recognition
- Coach and counsel aquatics staff
- Make hiring, promotion, disciplinary, and termination recommendations to the General Manager
Customer Service:
- Demonstrate positive attitude and actions through a display of courtesy, service, cooperation, hospitality, sensitivity, and professionalism to internal and external customers.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Two years lifeguarding experience
- Two years coaching and/or swim instructor experience
- Two years of supervisory/management experience
- Licenses/Certifications
- College degree in Sports & Recreation or related field preferred or Early Childhood Education Certificate preferred
- Minimum of one year experience managing in a related field
- Minimum of one year experience working in a children's program, day care or camp experience
- Experience with event planning and coordination is preferred
- Sales experience or driving participation goals is highly preferred
- Two years of customer service experience
Red Cross Lifeguard and First Aid
Red Cross CPR-PR/AED
NSPF Certified Pool Operator (CPO) (Preferred)
Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) (Highly Recommended)
Lifeguard Instructor Trainer (LGIT) (Preferred)
Successfully complete and pass Aquatics Department Head Certification
Applicant must complete all state or federal requirements prior to first day of directly working with children or within other specified timeframe. Requirements vary by state. A complete list of requirements is available from the hiring manager.
These requirements may include but are not limited to:
- Tuberculosis test
- All required vaccinations (or signed exemption)
- Fingerprints taken by a local police department for a background check
- Background checks required by state specific child care licensing laws that are in addition to Life Time Fitness background check
- Continuing education courses for continued employment in working with children
- Infant and Children First Aid and CPR Certifications
All requirements must be completed at the cost of the applicant, unless prohibited by law.
